Results of analysis presented indicate that, in analysis of many static and dynamic plate and shell problems, effects of any eccentricity in stiffening should be evaluated carefully; for longitudinally stiffened cylinder configuration with practical proportions, lowest natural frequency with stiffening on outside is found to be about 35% higher than corresponding frequency with stiffening on inside; results also are presented which illustrate buckling characteristics of eccentrically stiffened cylindrical shells under hydrostatic pressure loading, and vibration, buckling, and flutter characteristics of stiffened flat plates.
