Effect of shape of precombustion chamber on performance and thermal load of piston were investigated with single cylinder engine; results of tests of precombustion chambers of various dimensions and shape are described together with method of measurement and engine operating conditions; effect of injection timing; comparison of precombustion chambers by piston temperature and brake mean effective pressure; effect of precombustion chamber volume and nozzle area on specific fuel rate.
