Design considerations and development tests that resulted in production of Mirrlees-National K Major engine, which has current commercial rating of 3000 to 7500 bhp in 6- to 18-cyl units; projected future rating is 9000 bhp with 18 cylinders; test results obtained on first 12-cyl KV Major engine are shown to confirm performance expected from rig and prototype engine tests.
