To estimate temperature rise in armature of d-c motor, heat flow to armature is treated in terms of equivalent electrical circuit with lumped parameters of coil end of gear side, coils in slots, core, coil end of commutator side, and commutator; simultaneous differential equations for calculating temperature rise are derived; solution shows good coincidence with measured results under several conditions; to simulate results of measured temperature rise curves it is necessary to add heat capacitance of constructional materials to those of active materials.
