Pennsylvania Railroad's Kinsman Street Yard in Cleveland, Ohio, serves as maintenance and lubrication shop for line's diesel locomotives; in 20×400-ft area, four diesel locomotives, lined up in two rows, are serviced at one time; enclosed 400-w mercury weatherproof refractory type of unit with integral ballast was specified; luminaires were mounted in three 200-ft rows, 50 ft on center; units in middle row were staggered with those on outer rows; total of 14 units were mounted; result is uniform level of illumination of 10 ft-c maintained at ground, and 15 ft-c 3 ft above grade.
