First generation of fluid control devices for logic, switching, amplification, temperature pressure and rate sensing have been used to build aerodynamic controllers, navigation systems, and thrust vector control systems for aerospace applications; progress made from concept formulation to pilot hardware is reviewed and present state of art is discussed with respect to research underway, illustrated by some examples relating to vehicle flight stabilization.
