United States Army CH-47A Chinook developed by Boeing is twinturbine powered, tandem rotor helicopter designed to provide battlefield mobility for troops, weapons, and equipment; approach employed to solve several structural problems; development of fatigue analysis technique to insure safe life of its critical components; technique includes mission profile, component fatigue strengths, use of top-of-scatter flight loads data, use of Miner's Rule of Cumulative Damage, and evaluation of possible anomalies on fatigue strengths and flight loads.
