Study of accidents from March 24 1965 to February 28 1966 showed there were 113 personal injuries, including four deaths on M.4 in Great Britain; data are given on distribution of accidents according to time of day, causes and indicated speed limits; accidents caused by vehicle defects on A.4 and M.4 during 1965, were three times as many as those on A.4 during 1964 (A.4 is Great West Road); sites of these accidents illustrate clearly value of segregation as basis of road safety; of 222 accidents on A.4 some 135 occurred either at cross roads, or at "T" junction.
