Results obtained from study of occurrence of accidents on Main Road System in Sydney, Australia Metropolitan area show that there could be linear relationship between accidents and traffic volumes; when considered in relation to type of usage of adjoining land, accident rate is independent of number of traffic lanes on multilane roads, and intersection accidents are main cause for increased accident rate along Main Roads with industrial-commercial development.
