Curb uses include parking, loading and standing; study and analysis indicate that average of 18.3% of all accidents studied involved parking either directly or indirectly; almost 90% of accidents involving parking were direct result of parking activity; parking accidents have higher rate in residential areas than in either commercial or industrial areas; in 92% of all parking accidents automobiles only were participants; almost 40% of total vehicles involved in accidents during parking operation were attempting to pull to curb forward; in almost 2200 accidents in which parking was involved, only one fatality was reported.
