In addition to eliminating "flutter" in large automobile body panels, stretch-draw process achieved 16% metal savings, reduced die cost because of simpler die construction, elimination of springback, use of single- instead of double-action press, and less press tonnage; as problems are solved and equipment is perfected, wider use of stretch forming in auto industry is predicted.
