Lorena, of 1960 tons displacement, was built for Ludv.A. Lorentzen and Co by Ulstein Mek. Verk. A/S, West Norway; two 12-cyl Caterpillar main engines rated 800 bhp at 1200 rpm and two Caterpillar engines rated at 400 bhp at 1200 rpm are arranged so that entire power plant can be utilized in any one condition during operation; hull length oa 249 ft 4 in., breadth molded 38 ft 3/4 in., bale capacity 74,500 cu ft; refrigeration is by direct expansion of Freon 22 providing -28 C in holds when operating in North Sea and -25 C under tropical conditions.
