Automatic terminal guidance logic for rendezvous of 2 space vehicles in orbit, treating specifically phase between terminal acquisition and final docking; system, termed attenuated intercept, initiates intercept orbit, softened by dilating time to intercept; characteristics of system were evaluated by computer simulations for noncoplanar elliptic relative orbits; ability of system to accommodate range of thrust levels is shown; multiple start nonthrottleable engines appear adequate for task.
