Factors involved in design of track and equipment which affect ride comfort on curves; to review practices in regard to speed limitations in relation to track and modern passenger equipment, static and dynamic tests were made on eight railroads using ten passenger cars, each car representing some variant in current design practice; instrumentation used and test results on basis of which modified table of permissible speeds has been included in AREA Manual and recommendations made.
