Effects were studied using fin stabilized hollow tube models in free flight; test Mach numbers were between 2.8 and 7 with unit Reynolds number of 3 million per in.; transition Reynolds number was found to increase with Mach number throughout range tested; roughness required to influence transition increased with Mach number.
