As landing speeds of new type aircraft increase, it becomes necessary to review landing gear design criteria; statistical method for evaluating sink speeds of carrier based aircraft at engaging speeds beyond range of observation; sink speed is component of airplane motion normal to landing surface and is critical structural design parameter used in design of landing gear; Monte Carlo method is used.
