Construction of Missouri River bridges at Forest City and Mobridge eliminated use of overhead travelers by setting steel from ground with big stiffleg derrick that handles 200 tons at 100 ft radius with its 200 ft main boom; trackage is built in 52 sq ft sections allowing stiffleg to travel 400 ft; barge used for mid-river work was built from number of 10×20 ft pontoons; use of stiffleg and cranes eliminated use of falsework.
