Coal starts to flow after car has been rotated 90° and is empty after rotation of 150°; representative samples obtained by pipes, fixed at given angle to falling stream of coal, attached to side of car; tests indicate car-dumper sampling to be representative of car load plus advantage of retaining mine identity.
