Investigation of mechanical and chemical wear, first of which is mainly influenced by lubrication and second by temperature of inner cylinder wall; it is concluded wear of engines in question is mainly mechanical and depends principally on engine design, liner material and fuel oil; mathematical expressions for analysis are derived.
