By means of similarity laws of turbulent flow in boundary layers, general relation is developed for frictional resistance of flat plates with arbitrary roughness from which logarithmic formulas are obtained for special cases of fully rough regime, quasi-smooth regime, and engineering roughness; applicability of relations in calculating resistance for ship hulls, foils, and bodies of revolution.
