Reference is made to design and propulsion data in summary of studies made by Grumman Aircraft Eng Corp for Maritime Administration, to determine feasibility of hydrofoil construction of large merchant ships; based on first class passenger liner requirements and data in Study No. 4 following characteristics are suggested: length oa 600 ft, beam 80 ft, deadweight 10,000 tons, displacement 30,000 tons, draft waterline to keel 33 ft and to bottom powerstruts 80 ft, nuclear propulsion, 500,000 hp, and speed 50 knots.
