Tri-Ellis of 13,756 tons dwc, built by Harland and Wolff Ltd for British Phosphate Commissioners, is designed mainly to carry phosphate, but also general cargo between Melbourne, Pacific Islands and New Zealand; arrangements are made in stem for lifting and laying of mooring systems and buoys; length oa 532 ft 6 in., breadth molded 68 ft; service output of 7-cyl Harland-B and W engine is 6500 bhp at 112 rpm; plan.
