Magnitude of task that confronts wreckage analyst during investigation of accident is outlined; how reconstruction and examination of wreckage of basic airframe can lead to determination of chronological order of events is shown and how initial air failure or mode of ground impact may be deduced; manner in which wreckage of aircraft's systems is examined is illustrated by examples; techniques used to assist in understanding of wreckage features; how final findings must be integrated with other aspects of accident investigation.
