Simulation experience obtained during design and flight testing of X-15 research aircraft is reviewed; unlimited 6-degree-of-freedom capability of fixed base simulator enabled design engineer and engineering test pilot to evaluate overall aircraft design in light of total mission accomplishment; problems encountered and use of simulator to solve them; simulation techniques which may be used in supersonic transport program are considered.
