Parametric VTOL studies, made by Douglas Aircraft Co, to determine best method of achieving vertical flight to accomplish given mission; results show that, for aircraft in speed range from Mach 0-0.6, ducted propeller propulsion system offers distinct advantages over other systems; methods of determining performance, and test data that verify predicted performance.
