Arrangement offers advantages with respect to installation, safety and cruising fuel economy and is applicable to medium sized aircraft operating at 350 to 400 mph over 50 to 500 mi in inter-city passenger service and operations in undeveloped areas; basic component is rotor consisting of fan and drive turbine on common shaft; lift is generated by low temperature low velocity jets with associated advantages in noise level and fire hazard; force vectoring in transition from vertical to normal flight is achieved through single pair of rotating nozzles; system performance, and possible configurations.
