Approaches attempted were root locus analysis of axisymmetric vehicles, trimmed for zero and 45 fps forward speeds, and computer study of symmetrical configuration and 'three holer' flying jeep; in absence of angular momentum, there exists single center of gravity position for Hiller Flying Platform, above plane of shrouded prop, where hovering vehicle does not topple or enter divergent oscillation as result of any small disturbance; simplification in certain VTOL aircraft could result from applying knowledge to design for hover case (e.g., fan-in-wing machines).
