Research carried out at Ames Research Center with respect to configuration for which serious problems have been foreseen; some results of performance studies are considered relating to wing loading effects, effects of thrust-to-weight ratio, and engine air inlets; investigation at low subsonic speeds is in progress to study effectiveness of various high lift devices applied to delta wing configuration; full span plain flap applied to wing leading edge was effective in increasing maximum lift-drag ratio: other factors studied.
