Considerations involved in optimizing propulsion package, which includes inlet and exhaust nozzle as well as engine; influence of engine airflow scheduling with Mach number as it affects overall performance and weight of propulsion system is shown; nonmixed flow, duct heating turbofan with Mach-3 cruise capability is selected for study and conical centerbody axisymmetric inlet is assumed.
