Paper covers recuperator, heat exchanger in which heat from turbine exhaust is transferred across fixed boundaries to compressor air, in application to turboprop aircraft engines; reductions in engine part load specific fuel consumption can be realized with heat exchanger component as part of engine cycle, design concept of which consider lightness of structure, practical dimensions, reliability, and producibility; developments in light weight tubular heat exchangers resulting from program, sponsored by Bur of Naval Weapons; applicability to Anti-Submarine Warfare aircraft.
