Planning and scheduling techniques known as critical path analysis are applied as tool for planning major industrial projects; application of technique to scheduling of overhauling turbine aircraft and engines of United Airlines produced following results -- improved descriptions of detailed work involved with overhaul, effective centralized control over various phases of overhaul, logical sequencing of jobs to be done in complex aircraft systems, improved parts availability; reduced out-of-service time of aircraft being overhauled.
