New technique for removing moisture, or debris, from runways employed successfully at Dulles Int Airport, Chantilly, Va; method uses 6 Sicard self-propelled rotary metal brooms which turn at 400 rpm and are coupled to high speed blowers; brooms clean runways and 12,000 cfm blowers carry moisture, light snow, or debris, well off runway; units operate together in staggered formation and clear 150-ft wide runway in 22 min.
