Hillman Imp mini-car, introduced by Rootes group, is powered by rear-mounted engine made of aluminum die-castings with cast-in iron cylinder liners; 4-cyl unit has single overhead camshaft and is slanted to near-horizontal, while radiator is side-mounted behind left rear wheelarch; with 53.4-cu in. displacement and 10-1 compression ratio, 42 hp is developed at 5000 rpm; 2-door four-seater weighs 1540 lb and is 11 ft 7 in. long and 4 ft high.
