Approach taken by Oldsmobile Div, Gen Motors Corp, in developing several types of leaf and coil spring suspensions, covering in latter both body frame separate and body frame integral designs; isolation requirements of each suspension are different, particularly in regard to element size; problems involved in handling and shake control due to increased flexibility, and in ride and noise isolation resulting from insufficient flexibility; factors to consider in location and selection of rear shock absorber mounting bushings.
