Two principal kinds of investigations to determine relation between physical stimulus specifications and amount of discomfort are considered; in one, experimental subjects are vibrated in laboratory at controlled input levels; in second, measurements are made of vibration level in actual vehicles on road; problem of measuring subjective experience or sensation of subjects being vibrated; description of crossmodality method; pair comparison procedure.
