Longest single span aerial tramway in North America, rising 4000 ft in single 7000-ft span on Mt. Jarvis, British Columbia, is temporary structure erected to help build longer one; permanent tramway now under construction starts at mountain's base 700 ft above sea level and extends to summit in 5000-ft vertical rise; tramway project will supply Canadian National Railways telecommunication microwave tower atop mountain.
