Coolie car; use of monorail system at Bold Colliery, West Lancashire, where roadway is 1500 yd long and includes air crossing, 4 bends of 90°, 15°, and 2-30° and short gradient at 1 in 4 for distance of 40 yd; system replaces 8 men; bends are negotiated with standard curved sections, which incorporate guide rails and rope pulley; in another mine Coolie car installation replaced 2 endless rope haulage systems and one direct rope haulage system; system has transported 150 hp 8 ton shearer in half usual time.
