Bucket dredger Blythswood, launched by Ferguson Bros (Port Glasgow) Ltd, will be used in project for deepening river so large bulk carriers may go up to Glasgow; electric drive is used for principal dredging operations; when dredging to depth of 50 ft below waterline, output is 400-500 tph of stiff clay or 850-900 tons of sand; length is 175 ft, breadth 42 ft, depth 13 ft; propulsion power is supplied by 2 W.H.Allen 4 stroke, pressure-charged engines driving twin propellers.
