Recent study shows that deep draft super tankers of 40,000 tons dw and up can now use only 10% of port facilities available in United States, indicating need for vast amount of dredging; expenditures could be reduced by using boom type agitation which imparts motion to soil particles so that natural currents can disperse and transport them from critical area; dredging equipment, results in Venezuelan sectors, dredge design, possible use in beach nourishment, etc, are considered.
