Steel ferries were built by J.I. Thornycroft and Co at their Singapore boatyard for Public Works Dept, Sarawak; main dimensions are 122 ft (over ramps) oa, 80 ft (ex-ramps), 28 ft beam and 4 ft draft; hull is of all welded construction with ramps forward and aft, machinery amidships, accomodation to port and starboard, with raised gantry steering position amidships; main machinery consists of 4 Thornycroft diesel engines developing 85 bhp at 1600 rpm each.
