Critical assessment of problem of separation which was reduced on Jan 13 1966 from 120 to 90 nautical mi laterally; it is this standard which is examined and mathematical model is used to examine collisions which can occur due to loss of vertical and/or longitudinal separation as well as lateral; pattern of distribution of navigational error and factors which have to be considered from viewpoint of "cautious" and "optimistic" assumptions.
