Paper describes results of parametric study conducted at North American Aviation, Inc, which indicates high level of confidence in potential of Balanced-Power concept for significant weight savings in aircraft actuation systems; advantages of Balanced-Power actuation concept are shown; concept consists of mechanically actually actuated flight control surfaces, mechanical servo, flywheel and motor which may be electrically, pneumatically, or hydraulically powered.
