In order to determine optimum ratio of installed engine weight to total weight of aircraft, method was developed for VTOL aircraft in which fuel consumption, driving system weight, installation cost, engine parasitic drag, and other structural and aerodynamic parameters were considered; VTOL equipped with turbofan engine system consisting of vectored thrust cruise engines and additional lift engines appears to be optimum.
