Three versions of long-haul airliner are proposed, powered by "C-5A technology turbofans" at engine ratings varying between 32,500- and 40,000-lb sea level static thrust; compared with 185-seat Boeing 707-320B. 311-433-seat 747s are expected to show seat-mile costs between 12 and 30% lower when operating over similar routes; twin-deck interior. with third level right at bottom for baggage, is capable of many combinations of passenger and mixed-traffic layout; lower deck offers good use of volume for pallets loaded squarely; various layouts and characteristics of 8 to 1 by-pass turbofans.
