Potential of aircraft transport for air cargo transportation is examined; value of alternative VTOL-STOL systems, each having distinctive combination of airplane operating ground rules, route structure, and terminal location, is considered relative to freight market requirements, existent transit systems, airline profitability, and shipper cost/benefit; significant dollar savings are shown to accrue from shipment via VTOL-STOL air cargo; tabulation of VTOL-STOL terminal site selection considerations; implementations of concept are indicated.
