It is suggested that precise prediction of vertical position of landing ramp of aircraft carrier in seaway is of advantage with respect to betterment of landing safety through automated landing guidance systems; some results are given that demonstrate application of concept of using wave elevation as input to predictor scheme; comment is made that, as demonstration was carried out only for head, long-crested seas, perfectly measured, practical feasibility of prediction method is not settled; however, possibility of short-time ship motions prediction method that is independent of exact frequency distribution of wave energy above some lower frequency limit is attractive.
