One of reasons for selecting front wheel drive for Toronado was improved passenger compartment offered by design; various design aspects are described; flat floor permitted increased passenger compartment space and increased room in rear of vehicle allowed unconventional trunk design, including lower trunk floor; completely new ventilation system was designed; several other changes in such components as radiator fan shroud, retractable headlamps, and hood design had to be made either to accommodate or take advantage of new vehicle configuration.
