From warranty data analyzed after 6 mo or less of field service, product reliability and lifetime warranty cost and repair rates can be predicted; warranty data analyses can be used to identify differences in problems rates between assembly plants, months of production, vendor sources, and vehicle options, and can describe type of complaint for each part; paper describes how Ford organizes warranty input data, analyzes it using Weibull distribution programmed on computer, and uses results.
