Cannelton main lock, 110×1270 ft, will provide normal lift of 26 ft; results of tests of entire hydraulic system for lock in 1 to 25-scale model are presented; results of additional generalized tests of sidewall port systems for 110×1270 ft locks are included; usable lock chamber length is approximately 1200 ft; at Cannelton design conditions (26 ft head and 30 ft submergence), adopted hydraulic system permits lock to be filled in about 8 min; lock can be emptied in about 9.5 min with hawser stresses less than 5 tons.
