Survey of present accomplishment and future trends in rail-truck-sea interchange of general cargo; motor carrier transport accounts for 74 % of United States import cargo coastal ports; standardized van bodies, automated data processing equipment, refrigeration equipment have made Sea-Land Inc of Elizabeth, NJ, most modern facility; containerization, pier facilities, loose cargo handling and documentation are discussed.
